The Garden of Statues

Take a stroll back in time through ravishing collection of flora and hundred year old trees and statues in our gardens. Our collection of rare stone or wooden carvings of characters and figures in Balinese and Hindu culture, numbers nearly a thousand. Each figure bears a name and legend as different as the next. The interaction of man made structures and nature create a most curious synergy of beauty and art.

We nurture nearly a thousand types of exotic native flowers including Anggrek Bulan, Irian Flame and Wijaya Kusuma. Legend has it that those who are lucky enough to witness a Wijaya Kusuma in full bloom before 9 at night will have many years of good health and fortune. In the manner of Balinese believes, some trees are considered sacred and are thus clothed with special sarongs. Going around the premise is made easy with carefully thought off disabled access.

The Architecture

The design of the suites gathers inspirations from century old Balinese culture with hints of European touches, symbolising a marriage of community from the East and West. We have five main buildings assembled strategically to frame the gardens, which together tell the legend of the Pandawa Lima. The Pandawas are the five brothers of deified warriors from an ancient Hindu literature, Maha Bharata. Our buildings take on the character and the name of each warrior; Yudhistira, Bima, Arjuna, Nakula Sahadewa and finally their mentor Semar. To us, the sense of closely linked community, family integrity and achivements through the lives of these warriors are the foundation of Hotel Kumala Pantai.

Location

Getting here is trouble free, only 15 minutes drive from the airport and Denpasar, Bali’s capital and centre of commercial activities. You have a wide selection of transportation including taxi, shuttle busses and rental cars. We are also happy to organise a personalised airport transfer to and from the hotel.

Activities and Attractions

One step out of the hotel a selection of attractions awaits you including: Balinese beach massage, gift/surf shopping arcades, surfing and beach sports, cafes and discos such as Hard Rock Café and Double Six Disco. For outdoor-activity lovers we are minutes walk from Bungee Jumping and The Sling Shot.

We also organise dinners, buffets and live performances in the hotel including Legong, Baris and Ramayana dances on special occasions. You are all invited to participate and enjoy
